Here are 3 more of my sis from that other day. I want to spend a bit more time tweeking the color and such, but in the end it will just look different on each of your monitors anyway, so what is the point... at least until we print some



I've decided I like her as a model, she is willing to do silly posses. Sometimes they flop, but often I think they make some of hte best shots.

true love and homegrown....

There is a song my dad used to listen to that goes like this:

"There's only two things that money can't buy,
and that's true love
and home grown tomatoes"
I've had this hankering lately to grow a vegetable garden . I wonder if I would like vegetables more if I'd eaten them home grown. Worst case senario: I hate them, Brett eats them.

I'll have to be honest: even the idea of poping a cherry tomato into mymouth to "see if I like it" conjures a Pavlovian desire to start spitting into the sink. My distrust of veggies is rooted so deeply that I certainly do not go out of my way to figure out how to best prepare veggies so that I will like them. I bought some organic spinach the other day, and actually didn't cringe eating it. Took a chance putting together an odd (for me) salad and it worked out, so I'm off to a start.

I went to the farmer's market today. I bought, among other things, a variety of tomatoes for brett, humis where I actually know all the ingredients, Mung sprouts, and barley.

I love the barley; it is soft-ish and chewy. I had no idea grains could be anything but stony, I am snacking on it as we speak.

Coinciding with all of this, I started listening to Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver. I love her non fiction, and a friend recommended this. It is a fiction piece on her family's resolve to eat nothing but locally grown (often their own garden) food for a year with very few exceptions (like spices). So far it is nothing amazing-I enjoyed her fiction better-and a lot of what she says is far from new revelation (she even occasionally says things that I disagree with), but it does have me thinking about a few things.

1. What if it turns out I like veggies, just not oddly flavored (Flavorless, over bitter, etc) veggies that have been cross bred or engineered to be durable and look pretty.

2. How stupid are we to buy this junk that tastes worse just because it is prettier.

3.There might be something to this whole eating things is the natural season they occur in and fresh because they have more vitamins.

4. If I am going to force myself to eat veggies I don't really like, I might as well (when I can) go for the herloom-local-in season-has more vitamins varieties and find out if they taste better.

Her descriptions of asparagus and the one day you have to harvest and eat a shoot really has me curious if I would like them better the whole natural fresh way.

I learned that the fernlike plant below and the veggie shown below it, ARE THE SAME PLANT in different stages of life. Weird, huh.

Sissy's dog is in Heat. I may have the biggest butt in my immediate family, but I'm not the one wearing the hot pants.

mini walk

So, yesterday I decided that since I don't always have time to take polo on long walks everyday, I should just start taking him on mini walks throughout the day... which consists of walking him down my street, then back up it. It isn't a very long walk, but a very steep one. Ick.

I thought it was funny that, at the end of the day, I was more sore from Four 5min walks, than I ever get from my 1 hour walks. My bottom is gunna get fox if I keep this up. Today I only did it 3 times (but the last one was longer than normal).

I actually think I am more productive when I have to get up and walk him frequently... it pulls me away from whatever I am doing that is distracting me from what I should be doing.

Did the gov't really just print a trillion more bucks to cover debt? am I understanding this correctly? Should I start changing my 20's for 1 dollar bills so I can use them as toilet paper?

I think I am

I think I've become weird. I don't mean quirky weird, I mean I've been married to long without hanging out with other people, and have become a little odd socially.... like I'm missing something that normal people have. How does one socialize oneself without creeping people out?

What can I say, I was the beginning of the texting generation, but because I stopped using aol messenger after High School, didn't pick up IMing again until 3 years ago, and don't really text on my phone much, I got left behind in the technological dust. How many of these are actually universal, do you think, and not just nitch/program specific

Desperately seeking Blind Pilot in Spaceland

I think I've only ever been to 4 concerts... Lilith in H.S. (My friends mom came too), Imperial Teen with my brother and his wife (also in H.S.), a free counting crows concert my roommates and I all won tickets to, and that evanescence one a year and a half ago. By 26 (almost 27) I should have more under my belt, right?

And I didn't really love any of those bands. I mean, I like evanescence, but didn't know half the songs, imperial Teen was fun, but I didn't know them as well as my bro then (and Lilith is bound to have something you know) BUT FOR THE FIRST TIME I GET TO SEE SOMEONE I LOVE!


Blind Pilot

I only found them a few months ago, but they are my favorite, (well, tied with Dido) and they are playing at Spaceland in LA on Saturday. and the tickets are only 10 bucks...

Brett Likes them a lot too, but isn't really interested in it, So I got a friend from H.S. who I haven't seen since december 2000 (and only spoken to once since) to go with me. Bless her. I always liked her (and I'm not just saying that). One of my favorite people from h.s. I just suck at staying in touch.

And, it looks like they don't suck live. Check 'em out and be jelous!

Things I learned about utah from google maps:

Map view, satelight view, and the google searches that followed.

1. The Bonneville salt flat park is actually only a smidgen of the salt flats The actual thing could cover both utah AND salt lake counties (at least that is what the map looks like) if it were farther east.
2. At least 2/3 of the flats are military proving grounds(weapon testing, as google taught me it means) and missile ranges.
3. this military weapon testing area is almost as big as the utah and salt lake counties combined. Holy Salty Missiles!
4. Next to it runs a road called Skull Valley Road. I thought that sounded rather interesting. so I looked it up. It is a road with a lot of controversy because skull valley road was to be usedto dump nuclear waste from nevada on an indian reservation They were fighting this, I am not certain what happened.
5 The skull valley indians (Goshen Indians) have had, at one point, 30 or so sheep fall dead from nerve gas.


...and for a solid hour and a half I was a little obsessed in researching the goshute indians online.

I haven't show Brett this listing yet, because he is asleep. Obviously it would be nice to see the inside of it.

Pro: google street view makes the neighborhood look decent.
Con: 700 Square feet. not much for the price, barely larger than our wymount apt. We were really only looking at 800 and up... usually 1100 and up, because I like space.
Pro: almost .4 acres... which is much larger lot than anything else we were looking at. I was thinking.2, best case scenario. BUT .38!!!
Pro: Brett has always liked the idea of building our own place... maybe starting with a simple and small above the garage place and then living there while we built a bigger house... so if we do decided to stay in Ut (most likely because someone brainwashes us), probably room to do that on this lot.
Con:the house it abit too far front in the lot to build a bigger house in front of it
Pro: Remodeling permits are cheeper than new building construction?
Con: No Garage
Pro: I think we'll find a place to build one... If we move a few pebbles around.
Pro: adding our own garage will bring up resale value, even if we don't build on to the house and stay
Con: I'd rather live in Salt Lake where your church community is spread out a titch more. I like having non LDS Neighbors... more variety.
Pro: There is only one house between us and the chapel... so if we are low on gas...
Con: no room for an at home studio
Pro:It is fairly close to my work, so I can just get off my buttox and work from work sometimes.
Con: work will probably think of me as an on call bonus " oh yeah! we can make her on call whenever we want something last minute!"
Con:Crime. Just next door it appears that an old lady and a young woman are fighting over a baby.

So, for those of you who have actually lived in Orem, what are the neighborhoods like just East of State street between 800 and 1200... I think I remember them seeming pretty decent, but I don't think I've actually driven through them a ton.

Dear Brett,

I, on the other hand, am sorry I am so mean--and to you, it seams, more than I am to anyone else. Sometimes I think I am funny when really I am not.

I blame it on Nathanial...

for no reason other than it is fun to blame things on Nathanial.

But I didn't return you within 30 days along with my receipt. Also, I promise you that (even if you hadn't taken the precaution of throwing away our wedding certificate) I have no plans of contacting your parents about the 4 year warranty they secretly issued me for 50 bucks, and seeing as I still have 2 months left on it, that should mean something.

Adventures in fur

I bought my first dust buster a few nights ago.

Perhaps it is lazy of me, but I don't want to drag my awesome vacuum downstairs so that I can use it's awesome 17 foot telescoping hose on the spiral wood staircase EVERY DAY. In fact. I never did it everyday. Maybe twice a month... and my mom just ended up doing it all the time because, as it turns out, Polo is always shedding, especially (it seams) on the staircase. I don't know why, but he didn't shed the first few months we had him... now every time you hug him it is hair all over you. (we use it without the funky attachment since the stairs are wood, but the attachment seamed to do well on my lumbar pillow.

So I bought a dust buster because I think it is mean of me to let my mom clean up after my dog this much. And I have used it once a day for the last 3 days. I think I like it.I always thought they were kinda redundant, but I suppose they have their uses.

Secondly, I bought a furbuster--which is the knock off of the furminator.,if you have seen those ads. Po doesn't have an undercoat, so it is nothing like the results they show, but it does do something for pulling out his dead hair, and the other brush we had did absolutely nothing for him( and he hated the other brush) I want to take a picture of the little fur tail I gout out of him after a nice long brush watching tv, but I think brett threw it away.
