Poll time, baby.

So I realized a few days ago (while visiting Brett's mom) that My mother, my mother-in-law, and I all sleep on the same side of the bed... is there a female side of the bed? This is an extremely important matter, and all co-habitators, past and present, should participate in my survey. I will make it so you can pick multiple answers if you have multiple relationships to comment on. Unfortunately I don't think you can vote more than once, so I'll try to find away around that if more than one have the same answer.

Pocket protectors.

If the funniest thing I have read for at least a month was the list on this link, does that make me a nerd? I thought it was cleverly written.

Maybe that doesn't make me a nerd, just a loner...

... who lives with her parents.

word of the day

no, this isn't an educational word of the day. Unfortunately it is simply proof that from time to time, I exibit symptoms of the great ol' family tourette syndrome.

I would like to take this moment to educate the non family readers that tourette syndrome is vast in it's symptoms (and you probably have it). Obsession with words is just one of many things the lucky 'rettor might have. Obsession with swear words is rather rare.

Now that I've given my anti- what about bob speach:

Fiduciary. Fiduciary was last weeks word. Thursday, I believe. I went around all day commenting on things by saying "that's not very fiduciary." I said it until both Brett and my mother wanted to smack me around. Brett didn't believe it was a real word. I KNEW IT WAS; however, I had no idea what it meant. We looked it up, and I tell you, it is a good thing I never once said something WAS fiduciary, 'cause I'd have been lying. I rarely speak of fiduciary things. Maybe even never.... but to say something is NOT fiduciary, that you can get away with in most situations. It might seam odd and off topic, but will rarely be untrue.

Today I realized I've been saying "goji berries" a lot. not nearly with the same obsession, but still on several ocassions. This one has been used as an all purpose substitution word.... instead of talking about rat turds (cause turds are gross) I call them goji berries. "what are these odd looking goji berries?" "get your goji berries off the table..." see? its versitile.

greatings, from Brett's mom's place

thoughts to share... today We past at least two pathetic atempts to make a store name sound cool :

1: Donut Depot- a slight alliteration, Looked it up, and aparently Depot can be used in reference to food.. though the store wasn't thaaaaaaaaat big.
2: Yozen Frogurt- two made up words that suposedly are supposed to make us laugh
3. Eggs and Things.... well, it made me look. Still don't know what it is though.

If you build it, they will come

...but only if you also have a clubhouse for their weekly dungeons and dragons meetings.

I've had this dream for a while to build a hobbit village.

No, I do not dress like Bilbo Baggins and converse with wanna-be wizards. And, I really didn't like Lord of the Rings. I found it (plug your ears...or eyes...) boring. Gorgeous, yes, but boring. Lucky for me, one doesn't need to have a fascination with hairy feet on a very long walk to destroy a ring in order to have one with hobbit houses.

So my plan included a large grassy village, with grassy hills, and houses built into those hills... grassy roofs, and some cute fenced off gardens for the high rollers... and then, THE BEST PART EVER! KEEP READING!........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................AN UNDERGROUND PARKING LOT, because even freaks need day jobs...and face it, your Aastin Martin just wouldn't quite look right next to your rabbit hole home.

Now, I know it sounds like I'm a heartless mocker, but I am totally serious about this idea. I really think that there is a target audience for quaint, country living, small homes. I might even keep one of the homes for my self. It would be like living in stars hollow... but hobbity.

Brett teases me about this, but if I had the start up capitol, I would totally do it... they'd be cute little condos. I know that deep down inside he just doesn't like it because HE HATES HOA's.

So brett decided to google hobbit houses, and he came across this one this guy in whales made.

Although It is missing the underground carport, I think he did a brilliant job and his interior photos are absolutely gorgeous. ohhhh... and the skylight... wish I had thought of that one. It sounds like he bought some more land in whales and is planing on doing a community of environmentally low impact homes.... best of luck to him... in stealing my dream.

When Vernon smiles

Here is proof that B's Grandpa smiles. Usually he looks like that middle photo when he "smiles" but I managed to get one...where he sort of smiles

I should have croped these. The spacing is odd

Kodachrome

Paul Simon (as in SImon and Garfunckle) has a song called Kodachrome, which I must disagree with. First, he has a Nikon Camera... and I am quite a Canon follower... to each his own, I suppose, but my own is correct.

What I really disagree with, however, is his statement that "everything looks worse in black and white." Now, I can understand how the "nice bright colors... the greens of summer" could have hypnotized him into such devotion that he wrote a song entirely devoted to the film that could capture it all... ( a slide film that is only developed in a select few places in the US-everyone ships them there- because it takes a PHD in chemestry to proccess it.)...but to say that B and W is null and void... useless... inferior... Now that is just wrong.

Somethings LOOK BETTER IN BLACK AND WHITE.

ouch

My editor's daughter is pretty hardcore into dance. She sent me this link ... I was going to post it, but I think you might have to have an account to get the post code for youtube....This girl is sooooo strong. watch her do a cartwheel/walk-over thingy from a sitting position. It is sooo creepy how easy she makes it look.

butt-butt

Is it weird that I really like this photo?

puzzles

Brett (and his sister) like puzzles far more than I do.

I don't dislike them, I just would rather not deal with certain ones, and have to be in the mood for one. and have a lot of time on my hands.

The story of 201 photos

It is often easier to weed out the bad photos long after I've shot them. At first I think about how the record something and I cannot throw away every " not perfect photo," but then, several months later it is a lot easier for me to say "my arm looks massive in that one, throw it out.

I am now going trough a folder with 200 photos in it... serious overshooting. Ones Brett and I both took at an event 6ish months ago, and While I am enjoying the liberation of getting rid of excess "baggage," photos that aren't really necessary, I find myself faced with a new situation.

What does one do with photos of someone who never really meant much to them, but someone who meant a lot to some else and may even still though they probably wish it otherwise. How many images does one keep of such a person... surely it would be an incomplete record with-out some of them, but when they were never much to you, and when there may be those that wish to forget them, does it really matter if the memory is incomplete?

I know that is vague and all, but Its what I've been thinking about

I hope you like pictures of me (and other people).

Yup, I think I will be vommiting photographs all night long, because photos are pretty useless when you do not share them.

Story time

Meet Jess and Steve. Jess was once upon a time one of my roommates, for about 1 month. THen we were neighbors (and eventually roomies again). I liked her rather much, and she corrected my pronunciation, and we took turns having a crush on the same guy. You see. When he liked her, she wasn't interested-but I was (in him, not her). THen when She finally gave in and was interested, he wasn't (common story), and neither was I. I turned out rather well, I think. Neither of us got him, and both of us married men that were taller than super crush boy. Though, to be honest, Brett and Super crush boy share a lot of the same characteristics. Just goes to show I know what I want...except for those boys that fell in between. and to think, only one of those inbetweeners was a good kisser. What a waste.

Once upon a time, that time being last august, I let Steve play around with my camera, and he got this sassy picture of Jess, shown above.

And because Jess and I no longer hung out as much. We concluded the visit with a celebratory photograph. She, as it turns out, is still not a ham.

After Jess' I went up to Craig and Mary's (B's Dad/Stepmom), Where Mary's Daughter and law (Ashley) and I decided that I would finally take the plunge and Low Light my hair. Ive been wanting to do this for a while, and had just died my hair, so it worked out well. Ashley poses with me unlike SOOOOOOOOOME people (stupidity loves company?).

Here is Cannon wondering what the heck his mommy is doing to my head

and thus ended that lovely august day...and it turns out she blow dries my hair better than I do... no big surprise.

More Photo sorting

Here are some of the pics From Tara's Wild Campus Party a few weeks ago. EVERYONE was there, Brigham, Massosoite, Cosmo... blind girl looking for glasses on her statue table....

I had some prank fun planed, but Tara is a school teacher,a nd thinks she is supposed to go to bed at 9 pm in the summer.

You can see the Devil in her eyes

Today I arranged the bedrooms (one office with a guest bed) today. Poor Brett wanted to work on building his software and I begging for help. I just can't be productive in a messy environment...boxes on the floor, mattresses against the wall...

In fact, I am distracted even now by the shadow that the ceiling fan is casting. THis is why I studied for my AP tests in the closet. True story. There is very little of interest in ones closet-at least this is the case when there is enough room for one to climb in ones closet.

I gave up this habit after a while in College. Turns out, it creeps people out. THAT people, shall remain nameless, for the time being.... Just know that I have never been the same since she deprived me of my closet (yes.... it is a girl.... I gave that much away, but atlas, I went to a private religious University... did you really think my roommate was a boy? )

Moral of this story is, I can't really start work in the situation I am now, but I am ready to be somewhat productive, and I have started organizing my electronic photos.... Here is one of My aunt, nephew, and I earlier this year (I Think). My hair is several inches longer now. I almost removed the Red eye, but, after all, Photographs are meant to capture ones soul.

Okay, so it turns out they are not as obvious when I shrunk the photo down, But I swear they were really really evil.

no arf arf, for now

The pound called and said they found a microchip. I am wondering where it was that they didn't find it until they were spaying her. SOOOOO. our underweight whippet mix is not ours anymore. We have to wait 2 weeks for them to give the owner a chance to claim it.

Kind of wonder whether they spayed the poor dog before or after they found the microchip. Owners could be mucho angry. BUT I've seen some articles indicating that Starting april, owners in LA county could be fined 100 for a non spayed dog found off of their property. Too many strays. Apparently they euthanize 4,000 dogs and cats a month. That is a lot of strays. Poor pets.

So many possibilities

  • Wicket (because I could say, "meet wicket, the whippet")
  • izzy. Brett and I both liked that one.
  • Girrrrr- my favorite robot dog.
  • Hillary....um as in....uhhh... that girl from high school? no, that wasn't it....
  • Uzi.... it's just funny. but then we'd have to register her as an asault weapon in the state of California... (That was brett's joke. I liked it)
  • blitzkrieg... maybe boyish, but a good description of their hunting technique, from the rabbit's perspective
  • Julien K.... You had to be there. I'm sure the dog would look just as silly in those tight pants.
  • 電光.... Problem is, I don't know how to pronounce it. Do you think she will be able to read?
  • Dunette... having fun with the translator....

Okay, Obviously this is getting a little of target the longer we try. I think we have agreed on one, for now, but we'd love imput
  • Whippet Good.

We went to the pound on the way to Grandma Joyce's today, and now this is what we came home with.

Okay, not true. We take her home Monday. She was a stray, whippet, probably a mix. The face doesn't look very whippy to me, but it deffinately has the sleek body of one. Looks far bonier in pics than it did in person. Seams a little less withdrawn then I would expect a whippet to be, wagged tail a lot, wasn't a yapper, jumper, or a licker.

Yet to be named. Craig says "Divo", I say no (it's a girl). Carrisa says "Fatty," I'm afraid that might send the wrong message to impressionable young teenage girls. Brett says "Slaughty Bartfast," I say that if "Ashtanga" is to long a name, then it is deffinately too long. Plus, from my experience Slaughty is a boy name, and you don't typically give dogs last names.

    Help us pick a name.

    moved

I left utah sat afternoon, arrived California (SCV)around 1 am sunday.

We've been cleaning out the garage. Brett had the room moslty set up for now, putting off the rest of the upacking unitil we finnish cleaning out the garage and organizing, so we can move a bed into the garage to make room for our "office" room.

We finally got cells, because the house phone here only receives calls since my parents just use their cell phones. Brett and I have the same exact phone as my mother, so that is going to be tricky. I pt some tacky beads hanigng as a wanna be charm for now so I don't pick up the wrong one.

not much else to report on, for now. Just settling in. Love having a pool. Only used it twice, but great after working in the hot garage.

    4:30am-4:35am

    Oh Fair Fairest Brett-Brett
The dawn has not yet waked
I hear the wind, but feel it not,
the leaves cease not to quake

    I ponder on thy absence
    as the refrigerator snores
to the echo of an empty house
    and all its empty drawers

No Brett Brett in my freezer.
No Brett Brett in the tub-
    and no more Utah Truffles,
In which to drown my love.

No Brett Brett in the silence
or on the fresh Sponged walls
No Brett here to answer to
    My Waking "Brett Brett?" calls.
