I have to agree with Carrisa in that this random renamer by personality type stinks. Though, from my experience with the site, they have people rate names by how much they like them, and the personalities people associate with the names. .. so frankly (if they based it on that) it is user error.

Blu Ray compatible makeup! It is a wonder it took them this long to make it.... I mean, I'd think they'd have learned to keep make-up technologies up to date after that whole Y2K Makeup fiasco... that was horrible.... I had to go for weeks without makeup while my Y2K compatible makeup was on back-order.

Okay, so here is the deal. I am

 odd. I don't keep my photos in normal places. I don't like a computer telling me where I should keep my documents and where I should keep my pictures.... I have a rather intricut web of folders within folders within folders and everything is where it should be.

But in the spirit of co-operation, I attempted to stick with the rule of 6's to end up in an empty folder, altered the system a bit, ended up not having 6 folders, I kept altering it, and kept getting photos I'd posted before until the system seamed pretty darned arbitrary. 

A good 15 or so attempts later we gettttttttttttttttttttttt

My dad carving turkey for Thanksgiving 2006.... 2006 ended up being the year I selected to try to somewhat stick with the rule of sixes after much ugg. It was just Brett, my parents, and I. I never even sorted through these photos and renamed them, reminding me That I need to go through some of the older files and throw some away, rename them according to my system, color correct them... etc.

Dollar store challenge!

I always find such great packaging at the dollar store... like this one time I got a pregnancy test and the instructions on the box were different than the instruction paper inside the box, and both were different from the instructions on the foil/plastic pouch thing the test came sealed in.... and while the test looked exactly the same as the one on the box, the brand name on the box was different than the brand name on that sealed pouch...

SO MUCH FUN! Good thing peeing on a stick turns out to be rather simple.

Anyhow, I've been wanting to post of photo of this other thing for a while because there are multiple things wrong. Granted I am not one to mock, as I know my blog is pocked with spelling errors and utter grammatical laziness, but if I am gonna sell something (and I don't want it to end up at the dollar store) I'd put a little more thought into it than this. See how many errors you can find.




On the other hand, I should be grateful for their stupidity... A 3 pack for a dollar is probably at least 1/3 of what they charge in the regular stores for grammatically correct products.

a conversation in my primary class that took place on Superbowl sunday:

Jack Jr: "Sister Valantine, are you rooting for the ____________ ?"(I swear he said cardinals... but i'm pretty sure that is baseball)

Me: "Jack, I am one of those strange people who find watching sports utterly boring. My father doesn't watch sports, my brothers don't watch sports, and my husband doesn't watch sports. I don't know who is playing today, and I could care less who wins."

Jack:(has this fascinated look on his face, like when a 10 year old boy who has just discovered something he had no idea existed) "So, today is just like a normal Sunday to you?" (he sounds genuinely confused).

Me: "Yes Jack, it is a normal sunday for me."


and then the boy who never shuts up just stands quietly still for a moment to process what I have said.

Chicken Pot Pocket

I got these Empanada cutter/press things with some left over christmas money, and after making some leftover surprise Empanadas one day, Brett decided he wanted to make all sorts of little pies with it. SO, on wednesday we made Chicken Pot Pies, strawberry pies, and berry pies. I made the pie dough while b made the fillings. I accidently dumped too much sugar in some of the dough batches... oh well. But Brett perfected my fav chicken pot pie recipe...


I just found out that cooking out the wine means all of it evaporates. Being 26 years sober ( or maybe not, now that I know the err of my cooking ways) I falsely believed that alcohol left my onion/wine mixture just because I heated it... I kinda thought it was like soda going flat....the flavor is still their, but all the CO2 bubbles leave...

Well, it tastes better when you truly cook the wine out. Fortunately I think the only ones I intoxicated in the past were just me and my hub. Subconsciously I must have been trying to weaken B's defenceses so I could seduce him [Okay, I put that one in there for my good friend Sigmund (If only I had known... this whole time all I had to do was cut his hair)]. After only making it twice I was planning on never using the wine again because I felt kinda sick after words, even thought the pot pies tasted good... a strange aftertaste, but good.

Anyhow, I need a better pie crust recipe. THis one is good (except when I over did the sugar) but I had to add so much extra lard to make it not crumbly to fold... and still we had to make it a little thick, which I think was a bit much for the fruit pies.

I'm sory I ate the pretty ones before I photographed them. This still gives you a decent idea though.

Better in theory

So I was photographing these wine glass markers that looked like beaded hoop earrings for the June book when I got this idea of how to make cute wine glass markers for tomorrow (errr...ummm... today) out of red ribbon. I was going to write the names on it in silver sharpie... It would be simple, but add a little class to my otherwise casual (and pretty small) Valentines gathering. Well, turns out we only had lacy or Thick and Gold ribbon, and since the gold looked pretty nice with my mother's rose colored glasses, I thought I'd give it a try... Certainly I could make it work...



Well, I messed that one up discovering that my pink marker was much duller than my silver (which wouldn't show up on gold) and there after couldn't seem to get another decent looking knot, and discovered my red sharpie wasn't much better.




I'm sure my cousin and her husband (and maybe a friend nad her boy) would forgive me if they didn't look perfect, but I decided that in this case it would be better to neither ask forgiveness nor permission and just dump the whole idea.

I'll bring my mom's old compact-ish digital tomorrow to Mmountain if I remember and post them.

Puppy Torture

I succumbed and got polo his first outfit. At least it is practical though, He doesn't like to get wet in the rain, but the dog has gotta pee... and it has been raining so much lately that I got this a week ago. Heck, for 6 bucks, and it doubles as a halloween costume (if I ever stoop that low)... why not.
